A cow stands quietly in a Breton pasture, pausing just long enough to look toward the camera while another grazes further behind. The moment feels ordinary, almost accidental — the kind of scene that might appear in the middle of a forgotten family album.

The date — 1976 — is suggested rather than certain. The photograph seems to drift somewhere between decades, between memory and presence. It could have been taken yesterday. It could just as easily have been rediscovered after many years, tucked away among faded prints.

Like every piece in Shoebox 70, the image is less about the subject itself than about the fragile persistence of memory — how certain scenes, simple and familiar, continue to exist long after the moment that produced them has quietly passed.
